SERENA LEFORT
Serena’s breadth of experience and business interests combine to provide strategic and holistic solutions for clients. Serena founded The Connext Group to help clients achieve their purpose.

Serena has held various roles at OMERS, a $100B pension plan, most recently a dual role as the EVP, Investment Finance & Tax Private Markets, and Head of Tax at OMERS. In the EVP role she led the financial and business operations for nearly $30B of assets under management for private equity and infrastructure investments, covering performance measurement, valuations, transaction structuring, portfolio impact analysis, data/software applications management, and strategic/operating planning.
Previously, Serena was an M&A Tax Partner at KPMG LLP, where she advised clients on tax efficient structuring of acquisitions and divestitures for private capital. Prior to KPMG, she was the Chief Financial Officer of a private entrepreneur founded and led Canadian national pharmaceutical distributor, where she gained extensive hands-on strategic, operational and M&A experience.
Serena is currently the chair of the Finance Committee of Quantum Valley Ideas Lab, a non-for-profit aimed at developing quantum technologies to bring to market. She holds the CPA and CA designation and the CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation. Back in the day, Serena completed her Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University (Smith School of Business) in Kingston.
